SOS Group Proud to Support Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter Golf Day 2025

Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter Golf Day 2025

SOS Group were delighted to take part in the Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter Golf Day 2025 at Close House on Sunday. The event was a great success, raising over £10,000 to support the shelter’s vital work caring for animals across the North East.

The SOS Group team was represented by Directors John Behan and George Young, who were joined on the course by Paul Macrea from Epson UK and James King from Tomahawk Steakhouse. The atmosphere throughout the day was fantastic, with friendly competition on the course, excellent hospitality, and even some welcome sunshine to top it off.

Our team entered the competition and also donated a new printer as a raffle prize, helping to boost the fundraising total.

Supporting a Lifeline for Animals

Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter has been rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals in the region for well over a century. Their work provides a lifeline for dogs, cats, and other animals in need, ensuring they receive the care, safety, and love they deserve before finding their forever homes.

The shelter plays a key role in the community, offering veterinary care, rehabilitation, and educational outreach to encourage responsible pet ownership. They also provide support to people who may be struggling with the cost of looking after a pet, helping to keep animals safe and families together wherever possible.

Looking Ahead to 130 Years of Service

In 2026, Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter will celebrate an incredible milestone, their 130th anniversary. For nearly thirteen decades, the shelter has been a trusted sanctuary for animals in need, and SOS Group is proud to continue supporting their efforts as they move toward this special celebration.

Events like the annual Golf Day not only raise vital funds but also bring together supporters from across the community, strengthening the shelter’s ability to keep providing for animals in need.

A Shared Commitment

For SOS Group, being involved in events like this is part of a wider commitment to giving back to the community. The company actively looks for opportunities to support causes that make a real difference, whether through fundraising events, donations, or long-term partnerships.

By joining forces with Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter, SOS Group helps ensure that the shelter can continue its invaluable work, work that benefits not only the animals directly but also the families and communities who welcome them into their homes.

Looking to the Future

The Golf Day was a reminder of what can be achieved when businesses and local organisations come together for a shared cause. The £10,000 raised will directly support the rescue, care, and rehoming of animals, giving them a second chance at life.

SOS Group is proud to play a part in that story and looks forward to continuing its support for the Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter as the organisation approaches its 130th anniversary.
