The whole team at SOS Group celebrated this week as the company was shortlisted for a prestigious North East Charity Award.
This is the sixth year of the annual awards event, organised by ChronicleLive and TeessideLive and sponsored by Brewin Dolphin.
It pays tribute to some of the amazing charities and social enterprises in the North East and SOS Group was one of just three companies shortlisted in the sought-after Outstanding Charity Support by Small to Medium-sized Companies category.
Due to COVID-19, the event was held online this year and, sadly, we just missed out to the very worthy winners, Teesside-based Applebridge Family. However, we were highly commended for going above and beyond to help raise funds and support charities and community groups in this region.
Earlier this year, SOS Group proudly received the Community Award at the Federation of Small Business Awards, also in recognition of our company’s commitment to community and charity activities.
Andrew Skelton, Director, says: “We’re very proud of our record in supporting local charities and community organisations. And helping talented young individuals, too.”
“We’ve had to consider and adapt how we deliver that support because of the pandemic but we’ve still been actively involved with around 30 community projects in the last year. No small thing given the significant business challenges we’ve all been facing.”
“We were honoured to be shortlisted for a North East Charity Award and thoroughly enjoyed the online event. It really underlined the importance of community activity in this region and celebrated some truly remarkable people.”
This year, SOS Group celebrated donating an amazing £250,000 to charities, talented young individuals and community organisations since their launch 18 years ago. The entire workforce takes great pride in this very significant milestone.
