About us
Hello…
In 2002, with my fellow partners, I established SOS Group (Smart Office Systems Limited). We sat around the table, discussing how we could use our collective extensive industry knowledge and experiences to create a business to give our customers a new experience, when selecting a document solutions provider.
We also wanted to make a difference in the local community, with a long term focussed CSR strategy; An approach which is reaching a support value of £250,000 since 2002 and has led to SOS being recognised for many local and national awards.
Experience
I’ve been involved in sales and marketing all my working life. After joining the office equipment industry in 1988, I worked through the ranks of various roles, from Trainee Salesman, Telesales, Telesales Team Manager, Senior Manager to Corporate Sales, in both local independent and national organisations.
I have acquired MASMA Intermediate and Standard Diplomas for Management and Marketing Sales and have attended various sales training and manufacturer and software solution training courses over the last thirty-two years.
Why SOS?
When we commenced SOS, the directors had a clear strategy and objectives. We wanted to ensure that we offered the most professional service and latest office technology to all of our potential customers, building a reputation with each client. We felt that this supplier/client relationship could only be achieved based on confidence, trust and transparency. These values still apply today and have helped SOS to become one of the region’s know longest independently owned dealerships. Many our customers have trusted us as their preferred supplier for many years, in an ever-changing technology sector.
Our slogan still to date remains
“Big enough to cope, small enough to care”
Personally
I have a wonderful family who keep me active, including my ever-increasing grandchildren population, which now stands at five, all of whom are under the age of four years old! My wonderful wife Karen has backed and supported me along every business decision and helped to raise our three boys to into fine young men.
During a period spanning over twenty-five years, I was also involved within grass roots football, in roles such as committee member and coach/manager for Gateshead Schooner FC and West Denton Juniors FC. From 2007 to 2017, I was also a coach at Cramlington Juniors FC.
In my spare time these days, I like to help the local community where possible, assisting in the organisation of the annual Children’s Disability Triathlon. The event increases in numbers year on year and aims to ensure sport and enjoyment for all, regardless of ability.
